2016 W / VE Island QSO Party

Lots of advanced notice being given here.........

This event is for US and Canadian island activators.  Over the past few years Canadian involvement has been getting less and less.  In fact in 2015, only VA3PCJ bothered to submit a log sheet.

This country has so many islands I doubt we could ever count them, and with the constant complaints we hear about RF noise being too high to operate at home, this is the perfect opportunity to get out and do some great operating with a zero noise floor.

So, this event takes place from 1200 UTC August 27th till 0300 UTC August 28th.

The rules for this event are HERE.

Let's give this event a kickstart and breath some new life into it.  Pick an island and get out there and get it on the air.  You'll have a pileup in no time.

  1. Question. This page links to content from the old http://arsoc.blogspot.ca/ page. Including links to listings of islands by province. The listing for Ontario, for example, is a post from 2013. Is there an up to date searchable listing of islands that have been activated and the number of activations that have taken place on them and when? On that page there is contact information for submitting new islands if one isn't on the list, but given that blog appears to be abandoned I was wondering how that is done too or if it has been added elsewhere. Thanks.

  2. Hi Mike,

The date 2013 is when the page was first made, unfortunately it doesn't show the dates it has been updated. Over the past three years there has been about 12 new islands added just to Ontario.

Perhaps I need to post the updates on this page: http://veislandactivators.blogspot.ca and then update the master list.

I do not claim to be a computer wizard, I only took on this project to save the information that was originally on the CIsA website that was shut down with little notice, and to keep island activating alive.

  3. For sure. How does it relate to the RSGB IOTA island designations? I am suspecting it doesn't even though it contains international islands.
